semaforo - trenorama  MODEL RAILROAD MUSEUM

The model railroad museum is a meeting place, where the railroad-engines stand on their heads and run lying on their backs with the true sounds of whistling, puffing and blowing and with many surprises in store. You will be reminded of your childhood and forget your everyday worries when you see these steam-engines.

Do you know what a glass marble-race is and how it works? Or why the model-engine in the museum does not fall down from the ceiling? How many tons of coal does the fireman shovel into an engine's furnace? Or what is a reed-contact? Do you know the future of the Railroad and Container-Transport or the speed of the modern fast trains of today?

If you want to know the answers to all these questions and your own questions then visit the model railroad museum in Kouvola. There you will learn the history of the Model railroad from yesterday to the present day. From the time of the floor-runner up to the newest and most modern future digital architectural function of Märklin digital.

Every child, no matter whether young or old, is allowed to hold the steering-wheel of our trains or even run his own engines on his own tracks!

Learn and experience how you should take care of your model railroad, so that your childhood treasures keep their value. Even for the collector and the expert there are plenty of unknown and unexpected exhibits to discover as well.

Our mission: is to collect, preserve, research and interpret the traditions and technologies of Modelrailroad, and the History of Kouvola as crossing- and key Railway Station in Finland.

Many great careers have started small !

It's on every wish list now just as in the past, the electric railroad. Unlike electronic media, imagination and initiative don't flame up in virtual space; they develop in the real and the concrete. What personnel advisors have to do to teach executive skills in expensive seminars, model railroading creates playfully in the best sense of the word: It forms social competence, makes relationships and their alternating effects visible. Joint playing overcomes hierarchies and age boundaries, and promotes communication. With so much profound reasoning the only thing left is the observation that this potential is already part of the smallest Märklin starter set: a lot of fun.

Model railroading really comes alive with Märklin's starter sets. They are made for all model railroad enthusiasts who want to be quite spontaneous with their Märklin railroad and who just want to play. Where and when the current is in the track does not play a role here. The affordable models included in the starter sets feature a fairly prototypical representation of all the important details. Delicate components have been left off on purpose and thereby contribute to the sturdiness of the models. Children don't have to feel any hesitation about playing with these models. Simple run the trains and have fun !

The unlimited joy of playing

Let your imagination run wild. With Märklin my world you can create your own world quite easily a multifaceted world of model railroading in which everything runs exactly as you wish it to run. You can share this joy with your entire family. Everyone can join in and play along - starting with designing layouts to actually running trains. Everything fits, everything works. Very easily.

H0 - The scale of scales

Märklin emphasized scales right from the beginning. Such as in 1935 with H0 Scale. The scale of 1:87 is the most widely used scale for model railroads today. This means that you can create from an immense selection of accessories and expansion possibilities at anytime. Regardless of whether you have just gotten started or you are already a Märklin veteran.

Digital or analog? The choice is up to you

Märklin layouts have always been simple and easy to control. Whether its traditional analog or increasingly digital as in the last decades. Now, every locomotive has a built-in decoder. This allows you to control several trains at the same time as well as other functions such as lights and sound.
